Tough Economic Times

With the economy almost everyone has cut back whether it's going on elaborate vacations to buying extra frivolous things they have their heart set on. Even though a lot of industries have suffered, video games have still done great so we were surprised with what happened next.
Jimmie's company said they were going to have an all employee meeting the next day so we began speculating what they would announce. Would it be a new project or an update on the company? We had not expected what it really was. They had said the meeting would be some time after 10 am so everyone made sure to arrive before that. Then some people received phone calls asking them to go speak with a manager. After that we learned everyone called was being laid off and had to be out of the building within the next three hours. We were shocked and nervous waiting to hear if we would still have a job. Even though we have been through 8 sets of layoffs in our marriage, this one was the most stressful. In California there are other studios nearby to apply to, but Utah doesn't have much in the animation field. Luckily Jimmie was not called and we still have a job but feel very sad for those who were let go. Hopefully the economy will get better soon so we don't have to go through this again.

Ok that was really scaring me. I am so happy for you guys. This economy does suck.
Whew! So glad that Jimmie survived yet another layoff. It is such a stressful time. We can empathize with your family. Chris' work has had 3 sets of layoff's since last summer. There could be more coming. My poor hubby is still a nervous wreck!
Close one! How scary!
So glad things are okay! Hopefully things will be better soon.
