9-1-1, may I help you?
We have never really let our kids answer the phone because let's face it, it's usually not for them. Last week I was really ill with the flu and Jimmie had a mandatory meeting at work he had to attend. Before he left he had a heart to heart talk with Gavin about what to do if Mommy was lying on the floor and couldn't talk. Then his next words are ones you should never say to a 5 year old, "You're in charge." Jimmie then proceeded to give his farewell kisses and wish us luck as he went out the door. Only seconds after the latch on the door sounds, Gavin yells, "Woo hoo! I'm in charge, we're playing video games!" To which his Mom would usually veto the idea, she lay there wearily watching the boys climb there way up the cupboards making their way to the games. Soon after that their video game marathon started. Within minutes the phone rang and I told Gavin to bring it to me. Thinking he was in charge, he pushed the button and said Hello. I'm not sure what the man on the other end of the phone said but Gavin's response was, "Sorry, my Mom is sick and needs help." AAHH, don't tell a stranger that. I yelled for him to give me the phone which luckily he did as the telemarketer asked me, "Are you okay ma'am? Do you need me to call 9-1-1?" No I tried reassuring him, I just don't feel well. It took another couple minutes to convince him I wasn't in need of medical assistance before he would hang up the phone. After that I told Gavin he wasn't allowed to answer the phone and then anxiously waited to see if the paramedics would be showing up at my door to hear the story in person.

That's hilarious! I wish the paramedics HAD come. That would have been even funnier! Ha ha. Not for you, though. I love it!
Sorry, that you have been so sick!! It has been a terrible year for that..I do love the story though, that is something my kids would have said..we have had to train Rachel that if it is not someones name she recognizes, then she can't answer the phone! I kind of wish the paramedics had come too, that would have been funny, almost as awesome as miss Jen Jenkins and her flamable kitchen!
LOL! This if funny. :) Not that you were sick though. I'm sorry to hear. Don't you just hate that we never get to take the day off for sick days. Good thing for Disney and video games! :)
Sorry you are sick! Video games and movies are perfect for when you are sick. No need to feel guilty. We have a mice problem here, too. We didn't know when we moved in, but there is a "Mouse Preserve" one street over. So we have tunnels in our yard and we find lots of rabbit poop. Yuck.
now that is a good story!
Loved the story-- had to laugh even though you weren't feeling well. Hope you are better and that Gavin doesn't have to be in charge anymore!
That is hilarious!... although, I'm sure it wasn't so much at the time. I can only imagine how excited Gavin must have been when he found out he was in charge. AWESOME!! I'm sorry you were sick. Whatever is going around is nasty stuff. Next time you get sick, please give me a call. I'd let the kids come over and play at my house... then I'M in charge. :)
You gotta love 'em. Making sure mom is okay. HA HA! I just want to thank you again for the fun night of games. It's been a really long time since we had a game night. Thank you!
