Take me out to the ball game...

We thought it would be fun to take the kids to a real baseball game in celebration of their baseball being over so we took them to a Buzz game. The kids could hardly contain
their excitement as they got to hand their ticket to the ticket taker. As we entered the stadium each of the kids were h
anded a package of baseball cards that had each of the Buzz players. I didn't think the kids would really care about the cards since they don't know who any of the players are, but it actually became a major focus of the evening. We had arrived about half an hour early and saw the players signing autographs. This is where our inexperience with baseball comes in. All the other kids were sorting through their package of cards to find the exact card of the player standing there. Alyssa and Jayden noticed this and began to follow suit. Gavin and Paxton just handed the whole deck of cards to the player to let him find his card and sign it. I think they were just quizzing the players to see if they could find themselves. It was quite funny and each player just laughed as he was sorting through them. After the player would sign it and hand it back to them, they would come running up yelling, "look he signed it, he signed it!" as if in amazement. After repeating this the whole 30 minutes, then it was time for the game to begin. We had great seats right at first base so we could see everything. The kids had been confused why we had told them to bring their baseball gloves and Jayden responded, "But I'm not playing in the game remember, we're just watching them play." Well it's a good thing we had them there because the first foul ball game barreling right i
nto our row. The guy from the row behind us actually jumped over the seats and tried to grab it before we could, but we ended up with it! I think at that point he ended up feeling silly since he was trying to get it away from four kids. Well the innings went on and right as the kids had lost almost all their focus on the game, they had the San Diego chicken come out to entertain the crowd. The kids thought this was the best part of the whole night. He danced, he teased the umpire, he ended up throwing one of the other team
's players on the ground and they had to help him off the field, so it really was helping the Buzz. The chicken brought out four little kids dressed as little chicks and they walked and danced around the field, it was hilarious. We had a really great time and decided that we would have to make this a family tradition.
Things I learned about baseball by going to this game:
1. Always watch the field, you never know when a ball will come flying at you.
2. Make sure to bring a permanent marker for signing autographs, some players won't sign your cards if you don't have one.
3. I don't know why every kid loves cotton candy, it tastes really bad.
4. Make sure to bring two hats in case the person in front of you happens to be wearing the exact same one.

What a fun day! That is so cool you caught the ball. What are the chances?
I love going to Buzz games. I'm sure your kids had so much fun! I watched an elderly lady get hit in the back with a fly ball once. She was wheeled out on a stretcher!
Ha! I knew that hat was cool! I'm glad you guys had fun at the game. I would have loved the dancing chicken too. You can never go wrong with a dancing chicken.
Oh my gosh! What a good idea, I will have to remember for next year. I think it would be so fun to go to a baseball game! Glad your kids enjoyed it.
What a f un family day! Sounds like you learned some good lessons!
I love going to baseball games they are so much fun. When we were in California last month we went to an Angels game...they played the mets and lost but it was a blast! Looks like you guys had fun! What are the odds that the person right in front of you would have on the exact same hat! Weird!
Too much fun. You guys are all looking great! Good luck with the kids and the spare time they now have from all their activities. The game was a perfect idea for the end of the season.
We always wanted to go to a game when we lived there but never made it. Looks like a blast!
