Carving fun

The kids have been begging for the past week to carve the pumpkins we bought. Fearing they would grow mold if we did it too soon, we held off until now. It began with all of us around the table full of excitement of what picture would grace our pumpkin upon completion. Once we cut the top off and had the kids stick their hands inside to get the guts out all of a sudden the excitement was starting to dwindle. In fact, Gavin was so disgusted he began to cry and left us to finish his. Paxton dug right into the mess. He would grab a scoop, pull it out and dump it onto the table, and then shake his hand to fling the rest of it off. After a couple times at that I decided I would finish gutting his for fear of scrubbing pumpkin off every wall in the kitchen. One by one the other three kids seemed to disappear also. It ended up just like every other year where Jimmie and I clean out and carve the pumpkins and then the kids take the credit for their pumpkin in the end. Here are the
results of our hard work.

Your pumkins look awesome. We did ours last night as well. Oh gross, was said alot! Glad it's done and won't have to do it again for a year.
Awesome pumpkins! Carving pumpkins really is a weird idea because kids don't like the gooey mess and they can't use the sharp knives... so what is supposed to be a "kids activity" never really turns out to be that way. :) Oh well, it's fun for them to take credit for it in the end.
