Thankful for C & D...

C: Cell phones. We have become so dependent on cell phones that we wouldn't want to live without them. Remember back when you'd have to walk through a whole store to find your spouse instead of being able to call them and ask what isle they're on? We did have to go without one for a whole day.

Every night we talk to Jimmie on the computer or phone. It was Jayden's turn and so he grabbed the phone and walked into another room. A couple minutes later he came running back to me and said daddy wanted to talk to me. I quickly put the phone up to my ear and asked what he wanted. I noticed the phone was wet but so were Jayden's hands which I thought he had just washed. Jimmie then asked me if Jayden had dropped the phone into the toilet. I pulled the phone away from my face and asked Jayden if that's what happened. He said Yes and I then tried to calmly ask how it happened. He said he needed to go potty so he went while talking to dad. I then asked if he dropped the phone before or after he peed. He said it was after but before he flushed. Yuck! I quickly yelled so Jimmie could hear (there was no way I was putting the phone back by my ear) that I had to clean the phone and I'd call him back. I hung up the phone and quickly grabbed a disinfectant wipe to sanitize it. I couldn't get the back battery case open so I had to go to a neighbors house to ask him to open it. (Don't worry, I told him what happened and he got a good laugh and a kleenex before touching the phone.) He was nice and actually opened the whole phone to get the water out from inside it. The next day he returned it to me and I tried using it. It didn't work. I tried everything I knew to do but to no avail. I then had to call our phone company and explain to them that the phone had been dropped (I didn't have the courage to tell them it was in the toilet) and it no longer was working. Finally after trouble shooting it for quite some time it worked again. Moral of the story: cell phones are a great thing to have especially if you have an emergency, but never put one up to your ear if it is wet!

D: Dad. I never saw my dad much during the week when I was growing up. He left the state he loved to move to Utah where it was a better environment for his family. He also took a job that paid half as much so he had to work two jobs to support his family. Thanks Dad for all you did for our family! I love you!
